Former Auburn student was involved in a hit-and-run accident on South College Street on Sunday morning.

Erin Klein, 22, was leaving Bodega with her boyfriend Cory Kuczynski and their friends when Klein was hit crossing College Street while making her way to her car, that was parked behind Mellow Mushroom.

“I was walking back to my car across the street and as soon as I turned back around, I heard her get hit by the car,” said Kuczynski. “She rolled up on the hood and fell of the side of the car.”

Kuzynski and other bystanders rushed over to Klein to make sure she was okay and found her breathing but unresponsive.

Klein was taken to East Alabama Medical Center and put in ICU and has since stabilized. She has a broken collar bone, several staples in the head and many other injuries including a possible torn ligament in her right leg.

A police report filed in the case describes the vehicle as a silver Toyota Tacoma with Georgia tags. A Toyota emblem on the ground near the scene assured investigators of the make of the truck.

The report also said the truck would likely have front-end damage. Kuczynski said the driver of the truck left immediately after the incident, but not before briefly slowing. “It slowed down enough to realize what happened and then sped off,” Kuczynski said.
